Can my child bring food from home instead of eating in your cafe?

We operate an excellent nutrition program through San Marcos Treatment Center at no additional cost to students and staff, and we encourage everyone to take advantage of this service. If you choose to send additional food with your child, please help us protect those with allergies by sending only pre-packaged, store-bought food. Depending upon our student population, we may enforce stricter guidelines at any time, in which case, your child’s teacher will inform you.

What if my child requires medication during the school day?

School employees can only administer first aid treatment to our students. We cannot administer medications. If treatment for an illness or injury requires other than minor first aid attention, we will contact the San Marcos Treatment Center (SMTC) unit nurse who will proceed with treatment according SMTC policy. If the unit nurse cannot be reached and immediate medical attention is necessary, the student will be transported by a local emergency medical team to the nearest medical facility.

What is Parent Portal and how do I get a username and password to use it?

Parent Portal is just another way we keep communication between home and school strong. It provides you with almost real-time access to your child’s grades, attendance history, and other important information. To receive your log-in information, you will need to complete a Parent Portal application. We will then email you a username and password along with log-in instructions. If you need additional help, please call the front office.

Can I visit my child at school?

We welcome visitors at Ki Charter. However, in an effort to maintain a safe campus and protect our students, all visitors must sign in at the front office and present identification. Identification must provide (at a minimum) the visitor’s name and date of birth. This allows us to process all visitors through the Texas Department of Public Safety’s sex offender registry. We issue all visitors a badge that must remain visible at all times. Upon departure, we ask visitors to sign out at the front office and return their badge.
